The U.S. Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine sets recommended daily levels required for American and Canadians, and says the current recommended levels of 200 to 600 international units are not sufficient to prevent serious health issues.
Claims by leading Canadian health organizations that the lack of vitamin D may be leading to heart ailments, cancer and other serious health issues has lead to the review.
The Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Pediatric Society currently recommend a daily dosage of vitamin D that is up to ten times greater than what is prescribed by Health
