Christian Leaders Support Peace in Israel

Israel’s 60th anniversary was celebrated by more than 140 international Christian leaders who signed a joint declaration calling for peace between Israel and Palestine.

The Christian leaders, including Nobel laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa, called for a peace settlement that would “protect the individual and collective rights of Jews and Palestinians in the Holy Land.”

The declaration was passed via the Internet and by word of mouth, and was signed by church leaders across all denominations in many parts of the world.

Two percent of Israel’s population are Christians.
