Calgary Zoo Investigates Ray Deaths

Officials at the Calgary Zoo reported that 39 cownose rays have died mysteriously since Sunday, leading to suspicions they may have been poisoned.

Initial tests on the water in the huge tank where the rays died showed no abnormalities.

In February, Calgary Zoo introduced 43 cownose rays into the pool which allows visitors to touch the rays as they swim. Only four of the rays have survived.

The sudden deaths of the rays point to the possibility that a foreign substance may have been added to their water.
