The heart of Disneyland is Disneyland Park. The park was opened in 1955 in ceremonies led by Walt Disney himself. Disneyland Park originally consisted of five sections: Main Street, Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. In the years since, four new sections were added: Holidayland, New Orleans Square, Bear Country, and Mickey's Toontown. Some of the more popular rides and attractions at Disneyland Park include Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the Haunted Mansion, It's a Small World, Sleeping Beauty's Castle, Space Mountain, and Splash Mountain. Disneyland Park also features a spectacular fireworks show over Main Street every night.
Disney's California Adventure Park is one of the latest additions to the Disneyland complex. Completed in 2001, this park features several dazzling attractions focused on California, including Sunshine Plaza, Paradise Pier, Golden State, and the Hollywood Pictures Backlot. The park also features a Golden Gate Bridge replica and The California Screamin' roller coaster.
