European and Latin American Leaders Gather for Summit

For the fifth time in a decade, European and Latin American leaders will gather for a summit meeting Friday.

The meeting will be held in Lima, Peru and is expected to be attended by more than 60 leaders from Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Issues of soaring food prices, global warming and the fight against poverty will top the summit’s agenda.

World leaders expected to attend the summit included Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa, Colombian President Alvaro Uribe and Peruvian President Alan Garcia.
