California Lifts Ban on Gay Marriage

The California Supreme Court has lifted the states ban on same sex marriages. The court ruled that the ban on gay marriages were unlawful.

California Chief Justice Ron George said released a statement saying that “limiting the designation of marriage to a union ‘between man and a woman’ is unconstitutional and must be stricken from the statute.”

 

Before California’s ruling, Massachusetts was the only state that allowed same sex marriages.
