Hate it or love it, interleague play is here to stay. There are so many reasons to like it and there are reasons to not like it but the odds rule in the favorable position for it to continue. Statistics over the years since the start of interleague play shows that attendence goes up dramatically. It's always great to see the fun rivalry's go head to head like the battle of the Free Way Series between the Angels and Dodgers.
The American League has held the bragging rights over the National League over the last couple of years. The better talent seems to be in the AL and the NL has had trouble catching up. The AL has dominated in the Summer Classic All Star game and in the Fall Class World Series. One will only think that the tide will turn and the NL will start to game some respectability against the other league.
The tide for change may be this year especially with the great young talent in the NL. The D'backs for example are as young and energetic as any team which have them in first place. The young players who are new to this interleague play thing don't have the memory to know that the AL has dominated the NL for sometime now and maybe they can bring back the bragging rights to the NL? Only time will tell and tonight kicks off another battle of games in interleague play.
