Governor Tom McCall Waterfront Park, or known more simply as Waterfront Park, is a spectacular spot on the west bank of the Willamette River in downtown Portland. The park is named after Tom McCall, governor of Oregon from 1967 to 1975, who replaced the freeway with this beautiful park in 1974. The park is used for many citywide festivals, most notably the annual Rose Festival, held in May and June. The park also features many upscale hotels as well as Salmon Street Springs, the Battleship Oregon Memorial, and the RiverPlace Marina.

Another exciting travel destination in Portland is Pioneer Courthouse Square. This is a beautiful square in the middle of downtown, with many shops and restaurants. The square also features a spectacular fountain, some beautiful artwork, and the elaborate Weather Machine.
