Subway Series Battle of Lefties

After being rained out Friday night, the Yankees and Mets will begin their series for bragging rights of New York. The Yankees have traditionally own the series over the years but the improved Mets have done recently well against them. The game today will feature two of the game’s best pitches Met's Santana and the Yankee's Pettitte in the first game of the series.

Pettitte has made 16 starts against the Mets dating to 1997, going 7-3 with a 3.42 ERA. Santana has a 3-0 record and a 2.66 ERA in eight games against the Yankees lifetime so it should be a good pitchers duel. The battle of New York has become a bland over the years but it is still a big rivalry and the games will be as energetic as you will find.

Yankees new manager Joe Giaradi is new to the rivalry as the Yankees manager but he is familiar with it in other ways. He was part of the Subway Series battles when he was catching with the Yankees and he has managed against Met's manager Willie Randolph while he was manager of the Florida Marlins.
