Mariners The Hitting Laughing Stock

The Mariners are quickly becoming the hitting laughing stock in the league after supposedly coming into the season as one of the better ones. The results haven't been there at all and they are starting to fall deeper and deeper in the AL West race. Teams like the Rangers and A's who were expected to still be behind and rebuilding are having much more success as a team and with the bat. With an overall record of 16-27, it's time for the Mariners to realize that the season is moving forward and the stage of it being still early is going away.

The Mariners did score four runs in last night game against the Padres starter Chris Young which is surprising with the way they have been swinging the bats. Starting pitcher Erik Bedard will be on the mound for tonight’s game but he won't be able to win on his own. The Mariners pitchers have become obviously frustrated with the lack of support they have had to work with.

Kenji Johjima raised is batting with an average of .341 so far this may and Ichiro Suzuki broke a 0-for-16 slump with a single last night. The Mariners are going to need more production from Richie Sexson and Adrian Beltre especially if they are going to get back in the race. Only time will tell but if the Mariners to fall a few games this short by the time October rolls around they will know that their hitting was to blame.
