Santana The Charm For Mets

Johan Santana felt at home against the American League Yankees and continued his dominance over them. Santana is now 4-0 against the Yankees lifetime with the 7 to 4 Mets victory in the Bronx. Santana didn't have his best stuff early on giving up two early runs in the first inning but quickly rebound to give the Mets a chance.

Yankees starter Andy Pettitte was tough early on and did throw a solid game only giving up three runs in six innings but that prove to too much for the Yankees to overcome. The Mets scored on homers by Jose Reyes and David Wright in the seventh inning and didn't look back. Yankees relief pitcher Kyle Farnsworth gave up three runs in his inning of relief of Pettitte.

Santana went on to throw 7 2/3 innings before giving the ball to closer Billy Wagner who closed out the game. Santana hasn't been his dominating self since joining the Mets but he has done what he is getting paid to do which is win. With a 5-2 so far this season and he is usually known as a second half pitcher, the Mets have to be pleased with what they have gotten so far.
