REM is just under a week away from jumping into their North American tour and after several shows out west the iconic crew will hit St. Paul, Minnesota for a show at Xcel Energy Center on June 5.
Things will get rolling for REM on May 23 when they play in Burnaby, BC and then follow that with an appearance at the Saquatch! Music Festival in Quincy, WA on May 24. Following Saquatch! REM will then hit Los Angeles on May 29 at the Hollywood Bowl and then play a pair of shows in Berkley on May 31 and June 1 before heading to Colorado to play at the Red Rocks Amphitheater on June 3.
REM will follow their St. Paul performance with a stop in Chicago at the United Center on June 6, Toronto on June 8 and they will then head to Raleigh, North Carolina on June 10.
Formed in 1980 by Michael Stipe, Mike Mills, Peter Buck and Bill Berry developed a massive following in Athens, Ga. and quickly became a college radio station favorite. Their first few years were marked by success with singles such as Radio Free Europe and Gardening at Night and by the time they released their debut album Murmur in 1983 they were well on their way to stardom.
In 1987 they released the single “The One I Love” which brought them mainstream success and they’ve never looked back. Along the way they influenced bands such as Sonic Youth, Nirvana, the Replacements and several others.
