Temperatures atop McKinley can be quite cold, even during the summer. Climbing the mountain takes approximately four weeks.
Another breathtaking sight in Denali National Park is Wonder Lake, the largest lake in the park. This spectacular lake is surrounded by gorgeous mountains, trees, and glaciers. Wildlife also abounds near the lake, including ducks, beavers, and caribou. Trout weighing up to 22 pounds live in the lake.
Besides mountain climbing, hiking, and wildlife viewing, another fun thing to do in Denali is whitewater rafting. The Nenana River offers several thrilling Class III and Class IV rapids. Besides the thrill of getting soaked, rafters are sure to enjoy plenty of wildlife viewing and enjoyment of magnificent scenery.
