China has designated three days for a national morning period for the thousands of earthquake victims. The mourning period will begin at 2:28 pm on Monday, exactly one week after the quake struck.
The death toll had risen to 32,477 people as of Sunday evening. Rescue workers and soldiers continue to search through the rubble for survivors and bodies. Thirteen countries are assisting China. Those countries include the United States, Singapore, France, India and the Philippines.
Aftershocks continue to hit the region. A 5.7 magnitude aftershock hit the Sichuan and Gansu province on Sunday.
