The Destined Diamondbacks vs The Tinny Tigers

In the rubber match to Interleague weekend, these Diamondback's showed that they are indeed contenders. Skeptical like every other vivid fan, the Snakes season has been summed up by dominance in the NL West. Sunday's game, controlling the Tigers 1 through 9, bat crazy lineup, to a big goose egg in the runs column, proved to be the spark to change my thinking.

Randy Johnson proved he still has far more than most believed in his tank, throwing seven shutout innings. The Back's were able to contend with perhaps the favorites to win the championship, and that shows a lot. The young club will thrive off this interleague battle and continue to roll toward excellence.

From the Tigers perspective, their 7th shutout in 44 games, is almost at embarrassment standards. Although great play from Robertson, the hitting proved to be the downfall, not putting up one run on the board. What has been a slump is turning into a consistent downturn, and might eventually start opening up job possessions in Motown. Sunday's rubber match was indeed opposites for both club; The Diamondback's surprising upswing continued, as the Tigers disappointment just slides deeper in to the season.
