Colorado Teen to Face Trial in “Mortal Kombat” Killing
A Weld County, Colorado judge ordered 17-year-old Lamar Roberts to stand trial and face charges related to the brutal death of a 7-year-old girl who was in his care.
According to police reports Lamar Roberts had been playing video games with his girlfriend, Heather Trujillo, on Dec. 6 when he began to reenact moves from the violent game “Mortal Kombat” on Trujillo’s half-sister.
Hospital records indicated that 7-year-old Zoe Garcia had suffered a severe blow to the head as well as several kicks before being slammed to the floor.
Both Roberts and Trujillo attempted to revive Garcia but the girl died.
Roberts is scheduled to appear in court on June 20 while Trujillo has a July 7 trial date. Both are being tried as adults.
