Barack Obama Warns Tennessee GOP about Attacks on Wife

Democratic presidential front-runner Barack Obama has issued a warning to the Tennessee GOP after a video from the group surfaced in which they attacked Obama’s wife, Michelle, for comments she made last February.

In those comments Michelle was quoted as saying “for the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country.” Those comments drew instant criticism from members of the Republican party and sent Barack’s campaign into defense mode for a period of time.

Now those comments are coming back to light as the Tennessee GOP are taking her to task for the quip and have urged Tennesseans to question the loyalty of Michelle as well as Barack Obama.

Obama appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Monday and called the move “low class” and stated “If they think that they’re going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful because that I find unacceptable, the notion that you start attacking my wife or my family.”

The Illinois senator continued, “Whoever is in charge of the Tennessee GOP needs to think long and hard about the kind of campaign they want to run, and I think that’s true for everybody, Democrat or Republican.” He then said “These folks should lay off my wife.”
