In a 7-2 decision the United States Supreme Court upheld the criminal penalties leveled against those convicted of promoting child pornography.
Those criminal penalties include a minimum five-year prison sentence for the promotion or pandering of child pornography and the Court stipulated that a conviction did not require possession of child pornography.
The two dissenting votes were cast by Justice David Souter and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
