Venezuela Accuses U.S. of Invading Airspace
Venezuela has accused the United States of allegedly violating its airspace after an American military jet was tracked flying over the country’s island of Orchila on Saturday.
According to Defense Minister Gustavo Rangel, the jet was over Orchila and near a second island before it turned around. Rangel has said there was communication between the pilot and the Venezuela’s defense department in which the airplane was ordered to identify itself.
Rangel has said the U.S. ambassador would be asked to provide an explanation and a spokeswoman for the embassy has said the situation is being investigated.
