Marie Ann Thiébaud was the reason for the split between country music superstar Shania Twain and husband Robert "Mutt" Lange, according to reports on Tuesday.
Thiébaud is a longtime secretary and manager of the couple's chateau in Switzerland.
People Magazine reported Tuesday that Thiébaud was at the center of the split between Twain and Lange, but Lange denied the rumors.
Lange told People that the break-up was "an unfortunate thing." Lange added, "It's literally just a growing apart, that's all."
"Mutt and Marie Ann left their spouses for each other and are still in a relationship," one source told People.
"It's absolutely not the reason [for the separation]," Lange told People when asked about the alleged affair. He also denied that he was in a romantic relationship with Thiébaud: "I'm not, no," he said. "It's not true."
Twain, 42, and Lange, 59, married in 1993. They have a 6-year-old son, Eja D'Angelo. Since 1993, Lange has produced every one of Twain's albums, and the couple have collaborated on virtually all of Twain's hits.
With 15.5 million, Twain's "Come on Over" is the biggest selling album in the U.S. since Nielsen SoundScan started in 1991.
