Survivors Still Being Pulled from Rubble More than 8 Days after China’s 7.9 Earthquake

A woman who survived more than 8 days buried under the rubble of China’s massive earthquake was pulled free Tuesday.

The dramatic rescue came just hours after two men were found alive in Sichuan province after having survived more than six days buried under debris.

With the death toll officially at 40,000 and rising as more bodies are recovered, the amazing rescues have given a small glimmer of hope to a nation in mourning.

Rescue and recovery efforts continued amidst the continuing aftershocks that have riddled the area. Seismologists reported a 5.4 tremor struck an area near the heart of Sichuan province on Monday, sending rescuers scrambling to safety.
