130 Children Kidnapped; Ugandan Rebels Suspected

More than 100 children were kidnapped during a raid Tuesday in Uganda, while 30 more were taken captive in recent weeks.

A group suspected in the kidnappings, the Lord’s Resistance Army, has taken more than 20,000 boys and girls captive since 1987.

According to the United Nations, the LRA trains the boys as fighters and porters, while the girls become sex slaves.

The Ugandan government has been in peace talks with the LRA for more than two years, and the latest kidnappings have cast serious doubt over a proposed final peace deal.
