Plans to Expand Heathrow Should be put on Hold, Says Watchdog Group

Plans to expand London’s Heathrow airport should be put on hold, according to a government watchdog group.

The Sustainable Development Commission (SDC) is calling for a review of the plans which include a third runway, sixth terminal and 600 extra daily flights.

Data for the expansion is flawed, says the Government’s environmental watchdog. The SDC has also called for the appointment of a special commission to oversee an investigation into the plans.

An independent review of the plans could delay the new runway or lead to plans being scrapped altogether.
