Air Traffic Controllers Strike in France Disrupting Flight Schedules

An air traffic controllers strike in France has left many domestic and international flights grounded at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris.

The strike is expected to extend into Thursday morning as the unions representing the air traffic controllers continue to demand a plan to merge France’s 4,000 controllers and 8,000 other civil aviation authority employees into a European-wide system be abandoned.

Unions have insisted the plan would eliminate jobs.

While several flights have been grounded Air France has said long haul flights remain on schedule, meaning only the passengers on the short and medium haul flights have been effected by the strike.
