Heroin addiction is a serious ongoing problem in the U.S. particularly in the northeast where South American heroin is primarily distributed. Approximately 3.7 million Americans reported using heroin at least once in their lifetime. Heroin is not only highly addictive, but can also be painful to withdraw from and has been a cause of ruin for many.
Given the large number of users of this drug and the painful and often horrible withdrawal symptoms for the addict, it is vital that one addicted seek proper heroin addiction treatment. Some forms of heroin addiction treatment simply replace the heroin usage with other addictive or dangerous drugs. This is often referred to as a "medical withdrawal". The result can be addiction to the new drug given.
However, there is another treatment option. There is a program that has proven long term success rates and gets to the root of the addiction problem without covering up symptoms or switching one drug for another.
This program is the Narconon drug treatment program.
The history of Narconon goes back to 1966 to the Arizona State Penitentiary. William Benitez, an inmate and heroin addict decided to make a change. He had searched most of his life for a solution to his drug problem. It wasn't until he stumbled across a book in the prison library written by American author and Humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard that he had found the answers he was looking for.
Using the contents of the book he was able to stop his life-long drug addiction. He then used the information to develop a drug rehab program in the prison system to help fellow inmates. The program he entitled "Narconon" which means "no drug". He developed a total non-drug approach to rehabilitation.
Narconon program allows one to withdraw from drugs without the use of drugs and still avoid the painful withdrawal symptoms associated with quitting drugs "cold turkey". The remaining parts of the drug rehab program handle the physical and mental factors associated with drug addiction and give the student information he did not previously have. These remaining steps are vital to handle the reasons why the user turned to drugs as a solution to begin with.
The Narconon program has proven itself over 44 years to be a highly effective method of drug rehabilitation without drugs used as an alternative. The Narconon program sets their clients onto the road to living a drug-free life.
