The Olympic torch relay will resume in China after a three-day national mourning period for victims of the 7.9 earthquake that struck the country last week.
Organizers of the Olympic torch relay initially chose to maintain original plans for the tour, but relented after an outcry from the public.
The torch relay has had a smooth journey across mainland China avoiding the problems seen along its international route where protestors over Tibet and human rights issues interrupted the procession.
Following the earthquake on May 12, organizers have toned down the celebration around the torch relay and have even collected donations for victims along the torch route.
Earthquake survivors in the Sichuan province will be visited when the torch relay tours the area June 15. The torch returns to Beijing two days before the 2008 Olympic games are set to begin on August 8.
