Austrian police reported a woman brandishing a pepper spray container injured herself and 18 others Wednesday on a subway in
Witnesses said an altercation erupted between the woman and a man who had complained she was talking too loudly on her cell phone. The confrontation turned to physical violence, and the woman attempted to use the pepper spray.
Instead, the woman sprayed herself and injured 17 schoolchildren and their teacher. All were taken to a local hospital.
The man who instigated the incident was not injured, and left the scene before police arrived.
