British Museum Covers Mummies after Complaints of Nudity

Following visitor complaints about ancient Egyptian mummies being on display “naked,” a British museum is covering up its collection.

The Manchester Museum in northwest England, home to Britain’s largest collection of Egyptian artifacts, received complaints about the manor in which the remains are being displayed.

Museum officials announced they would keep the 11 mummies on display under wraps until an official determination on how they should be displayed was reached.

Egyptologists denounced the move, calling it a “step backwards” for an institution which is designed to educate and inform visitors.
