Pure Air Control Services, Inc. Stands Poised to Change Future of IAQ Education

Pure Air announces collaboration with Florida International University’s Stempel School of Public Health

With more than two decades of experience, Pure Air Control Services, Inc. possesses a long-held reputation of pioneering the indoor air quality (IAQ) industry. An interdisciplinary environmental consulting firm headquartered in Clearwater, FL, Pure Air’s achievements include establishing an in-house environmental microbiology lab that is the first Hispanic-owned American Hygiene Association-accredited lab in the U.S. Now, Pure Air again stands at the forefront of the evolving IAQ industry by announcing its collaboration with Florida International University’s Stempel School of Public Health (SSPH).

“Our commitment to the integrity of a multi-faceted approach has yielded a dynamic company with exceptional vision and results in addressing indoor environmental concerns,” said Alan Wozniak, president and CEO of Pure Air. “That commitment includes partnering with leaders of professions such as medical doctors, public health officials, industrial hygienists, building scientists, engineers, and microbiologists.  This allows us to achieve the highest level of excellence by bringing a multi-faceted approach to the table which consistently provides exceptional, complete solutions.  With that in mind, FIU is a perfect fit to our team.  FIU brings instant research capabilities to our vast amount of indoor data, access and participation in research funding grants, while at the same time shaping the minds of future leaders of the indoor environmental industry.”

Among dozens of specified areas of collaboration, both institutions will jointly create and implement indoor environmental health training courses, case studies, and workshops. Pure Air will also develop a mutually agreed-upon number of internships to offer SSPH graduate students, as well as identify potential staff to be considered for SSPH faculty appointment. In addition, Pure Air will work with SSPH researchers to develop procedures for making its environmental data available to qualified public environmental health researchers.

“I really enjoyed my visit with (Pure Air Control Services)! It is quite a nice surprise to see that you have an outstanding laboratory in our South Florida. Our collaboration will definitely benefit both of our institutions, i.e., Florida International University (FIU)  Stempel School of Public Health Department of Environmental & Occupational Health and Pure Air Control Services, INC. in the area of service, teaching and research,”  stated Janvier Gasana MD PhD Associate Professor Department of Environmental and Occupational Health

Indeed, Pure Air was one of the first firm’s in the nation to realize and address the critical nature of indoor environmental health. Wozniak believes his firm’s collaboration with SSPH represents a crucial turning point for IAQ education.

“In the past, PACS has been a pioneer of this industry.  Our multi-faceted approach is second to none.  With education now leading the way, the future of IEQ is here,” said Dr. Rajiv Sahay, Director of Environmental Diagnostics Laboratory (EDLab). “What was once visionary will soon become mainstream.  The advanced indoor environmental curriculum at FIU and partnership with PACS will prepare these students for promoting sound building science investigation and remediation protocols which shall revolutionize the industry and provide for safer and healthier buildings and homes”.
