Professional intervention helps in getting alcoholics into treatment
Alcoholics enter treatment successfully with professional intervention
Entering a facility for alcoholism treatment or drug addiction treatment is one of the most difficult decisions to make in a substance abuser’s life. Often we find that it’s difficult to convince them that they are in need of help due to the denial in which they are living. For alcoholics there is sometimes another hurdle to overcome, Interventionists find it difficult for the alcoholic to often process that they have trouble managing the use of a legal substance, that everyone over the age of 21 within the United States, has access to.
Fortunately, families and friends of those who are affected by alcohol abuse are able to enlist the help of those with experience in such matters through professional intervention like the services offered by Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center. Along with professional intervention, families and loved ones are able to utilize the many community-based treatment initiatives such as 12-step programs.
“Our professional intervention services help families and loved ones of substance abusers by putting us in the position of being seen as the ‘bad guy’,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside. “No one, particularly those emotionally close to the addiction situation, likes to be the one to first approach an abuser. Instead of coming from a place of confrontation, however, we present the facts. Those facts, coupled with the emotional response from family and loved ones is enough to break through the denial that is so commonly present in alcoholics. When we can get past their denial, we are able to truly address and conquer the underlying issues and get them started on their journey to sobriety.”
Most alcoholics are in such deep denial that they can’t pinpoint the moment that their use of alcohol became a problem. What commonly started as an innocent way to unwind, became their way to cope with the daily stresses of life. And, with increased use, became increase dependence upon that use. Many times, alcoholics are only ready to deal with their problem once it is materially affecting their life—that is financially or legally.
