Barack Obama to Replace Ted Kennedy as Wesleyan Commencement Speaker

Senator Barack Obama is set to fill in for Senator Ted Kennedy as the commencement speaker at Wesleyan University.

Wesleyan University, which is located in Middletown, Connecticut, will have its 176th commencent on Sunday.

Senator Edward Kennedy is in recovery after being diagnosed with malignant glioma in the parietal lobe on the left side of his brain. Kennedy was relased from Massachusetts General Hospital on Wednesday.

“Ted and I talked about me filling in for him at Wesleyan University earlier this week," said Obama. "Considering what he’s done for me and for our country, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for him. So I’m looking forward to standing in his place on Sunday even though I know I won’t be able to fill his shoes."

Wesleyan University is currently ranked No. 11 for the nation's top liberal arts colleges, according to U.S. News & World Report.
