Tropical Storm Bonnie Rolling into Gulf of Mexico, Oil Workers Evacuating as BP Keeps Cap on Ruptured Well

BP’s newly capped ruptured well in the Gulf of Mexico will likely face an early test from Mother Nature as Tropical Storm Bonnie prepares to pass over the water following its path across southern Florida on Friday.

With Tropical Storm Bonnie expected to gain strength the oil spill workers have been ordered to evacuate as have all the ships in the area. BP has already been given the go-ahead by incident commander Adm. Thad Allen to keep the tighter fitting cap on the ruptured well.

Bonnie is currently moving northwest over the Bahamas having already caused flooding in Haiti, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic and forecasters have predicted the storm could reach the spill site by early Saturday.
