4Offsets.com becomes Associate Member of the Chicago Climate Exchange

4Offsets Upgrades to Associate Member Status at the CCX

4Offsets, llc. has changed its relationship with the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) from “Exchange Participant” to that of “Associate Member”.  This change is effective immediately and will require 4Offsets, llc. to offset 100% of its indirect emissions for the years 2008, 2009 and 2010.  4Offsets was founded in November December 2007 with the goal of offering the most user-friendly, market based carbon offsets to both consumers and business.

4Offsets, llc. first established a relationship with the CCX as an “Exchange Participant” in December of 2007 in order to purchase and retire offset contracts related to sales on the company’s www.4Offsets.com website.  “By becoming full members of the Chicago Climate Exchange, 4Offsets not only can purchase and retire offsets, but we’ve made a long term commitment to offset 100% of our indirect CO2 emissions with offsets sold on the exchange”, 4Offsets CEO Fred Weiss said in a statement issued by the company.  Mr. Weiss further explained the membership upgrade by saying “The CCX is the premier market for climate change products in the USA.  We are proud to be among the many premier American and International companies that make up the exchange.”

4Offsets, llc. is a Michigan based provider of Carbon offsets for business and individuals.  The company sells CO2 offsets, through the company’s 4Offset.com website, that are represented by retired Carbon Financial Instruments on the CCX.  The Chicago Climate Exchange (the CCX), launched in 2003, is the world’s first and North America’s only active voluntary, legally binding integrated trading system to reduce emissions of all six major greenhouse gases (GHGs), with offset projects worldwide.
