Tony Blair Escapes Death after Communication Breakdown
Former Prime Minister of the UK Tony Blair was within moments of being killed on Monday and the 55-year-old didn’t know about it until the situation had been resolved.
Blair, along with several delegates from the World Economic Forum, had been aboard a private jet flying to Bethlehem when the plane entered Israeli air space. Air traffic controllers considered the jet a suspicious aircraft and attempted, on several occasions, to contact the pilot.
Fears that they may be dealing with a terrorist, Israel sent two warplanes to intercept the jet. Before the fighter jets engaged they flew above Blair’s jet and let the pilot know he was considered a suspect and at that time the pilot was able to make contact and confirm that he was carrying Blair and the other WEF members.
According to various media reports Blair was unaware of the situation until landing. A technical problem was blamed for the communication breakdown.
