The Dallas Cowboys became the first team to come to terms with their first-round selection on Thursday, putting together a deal with wide receiver Dez Bryant that is reportedly worth $11.8 million over five years with $8.3 million being guaranteed.
Bryant, who will now receive $2.5 million to sign, had expressed a desire to get a deal done quickly so that he could be in training camp on Saturday, the first day of workouts for the Cowboys. That desire was evident in a statement released by the team in which Bryant said “I want to help this team. I want to compete. I can't wait to start playing football again.”
Taken with the 24th selection in the 2010 NFL Draft, Bryant becomes the first first-rounder in his class to come to a deal with his team.
