Plane Carrying Mail Crashes in Montana

A small plane carrying mail crashed Friday, killing the pilot. No injuries were reported on the ground.

FAA officials say the plane had just taken off from Billings Logan International Airport when it crashed about 1.25 a.m.

Witnesses at the scene claimed to have seen the plane as it crashed, saying it just came straight down out of the sky.

The plane was owned by Alpine Air, which confirmed the plane was carrying mail bound for Great Falls.

Details have not been released on the identity of the pilot.
