Missouri Car Dealership Offering Free Gun with Purchase of Vehicle, Credits Barack Obama with Inspiration

A car dealer in Butler, Missouri is getting creative, offering customers a free gun with every vehicle purchase.

The dealership, Max Motors, has said sales have quadrupled since the promotion began and as an alternative to a free gun owner Mark Muller is offering a gas card worth $250. Despite the premium on gas Muller has said the majority of people have opted for the gun.

Muller said he was inspired by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama who made controversial remarks during his campaign about people clinging to their guns and religion during tough economic times. Muller said of Obama, “He said all those people in the Midwest, you've got to have compassion for them because they're clinging to their guns and their Bibles. I found that quite offensive. We all go to church on Sunday and we all carry guns.”

In order to collect the free firearm each car purchaser must pass a background check for gun ownership.

The offer extends through the end of the month.
