NBA News: Minnesota Timberwolves President Fined $50,000 for Comments Regarding Michael Beasley

The NBA has fined Minnesota Timberwolves president David Kahn $50,000 for comments he made regarding past drug use by newly acquired forward Michael Beasley.

Kahn mentioned in an interview that Beasley has used “too much marijuana” in the past but he believed the 21-year-old had made the necessary steps required to put that behind him and have a solid career in Minnesota.

Beasley was traded by the Miami Heat two weeks ago as they made room for Chris Bosh and LeBron James. The former Kansas State standout was the number two selection in 2008 and had been considered a bright prospect but he ran into a number of personal issues which eventually led him to a stint in rehab last summer.

While many have seen Beasley’s brief time in the NBA as a disappointment he did average 14.3 points and 5.9 rebounds over two years in Miami and Kahn did say he thought a change of scenery could work well for the forward.
