The oldest national park in the country and the largest outside of Alaska, Yellowstone National Park is not to be missed! Located in the northwestern corner of the state, this spectacular park is a hotbed of geothermal activity as well as a haven of wildlife and amazing scenery. Yellowstone contains thousands of geysers, which erupt regularly with giant plumes of boiling water. The most famous of these is Old Faithful, which erupts on the average every 78 minutes in a column 100 to 180 feet high. Wildlife in the park include moose, elk, bear, bison, and marmots.
Located less than 50 miles from Yellowstone, Grand Teton National Park is another must-see. The park is named for the marked sharp triagular peaks of the Grand Tetons, which rise abruptly some 7000 feet above the surrounding valley. The park featuers several spectacular hiking trails and scenic drives. Fun places to go in the park include Colter Bay and Jenny Lake. The park is also located near the historic town of Jackson Hole, where tourists can enjoy a wide variety of enjoyable activites all year round.
