USATravelPal.com, a comprehensive travel website in progress, provides comprehensive travel information on over 1500 exciting destinations throughout the United States, including 24 in the national parks of Utah. The beautiful state of Utah has five national parks, the third most of any state after Alaska and California, each with eight. These five parks are Arches, Bryce, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and Zion. Each offers its unique brand of beauty and excitement.
Arches National Park is named for its some 1800 amazing natural arches, formed from natural erosion of the desert sandstone terrain. Points of interest in the park include the 50-foot tall Balanced Rock, which seems to defy gravity, as well as the magnificent Delicate Arch, Devil's Garden, Park Avenue and the Courthouse Towers, and the Windows Section.
Bryce Canyon National Park offers a truly amazing other-worldly terrain consisting of highly contorted colorful rock formations formed by erosion. The highlight of the park is the Bryce Amphitheater, which is best viewed at sunrises, when the numerous peaks catch their first glimpse of sunlight. Other points of interest include Sunrise Point, Sunset Point, Thor's Hammer, the Navajo Loop, the Natural Bridge, and Aqua Canyon.
Canyonlands National Park, the largest of Utah's national parks, offers some truly amazing views of beautiful, rocky terrain as far as the eye can see. This Y-shaped canyon was formed from the confluence of the Colorado and Green Rivers. Spectacular points of interest include Islands in the Sky, Horseshoe Canyon, the Mesa Arch, the Maze, White Rim Road, and the Needles District.
Capitol Reef National Park is named for its awesome 100-foot high wall of uplifted sedimentary rock which resembles the dome of the US Capitol. This park offers a wide variety of enjoyable activities, including hiking, mountain climbing, fishing, and camping.
Lastly, one should not miss Zion National Park, home of the beautiful multicolored Zion Canyon. The park offers several gorgeous hiking trails through this awesome canyon. A wide variety of wildlife can be found here. Next July, the park will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a host of exciting celebrations.
