Memorial Day Fun Begins With Summer Planning

Memorial Day Weekend is a big weekend for parents to research and enroll their kids and teens in summer camp before they all fill up

The good summer camp programs, particularly specialized ones such as teen summer camps and academic summer camps are starting to fill up, which is why concerned parents are urged to take a few minutes from their Memorial Day weekend fun to research and register their kids in the camp of their choice before it's too late.

The academic summer camp, SuperCamp, enrolled over 200 students in just the past seven days, reflecting the summer enrichment program's appeal and the fact that now is the peak time for camp enrollment.

To help meet the demand, SuperCamp announced today that it has added another teen summer camp session at its Cornell University location. This addition will create 125 new spots for students entering grades 9 through 12 in the fall.

SuperCamp's new location this year at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa is drawing students from throughout the midwest, including the Chicago area, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, as well as Iowa. The camp will run a middle school program for students entering grades 6 to 8 and a Senior Forum teen program.

While SuperCamp runs three California summer camps, Drake is the only SuperCamp program between its Colorado summer camps in Colorado Springs and its New York summer camps at Cornell. To the south, SuperCamp also runs North Carolina summer camps at Wake Forest. And in the Pacific northwest, SuperCamp’s Washington summer camps are at the U. of Washington in Seattle.

Popular among high school students, SuperCamp’s teen summer camps are offered at all eight summer locations, as is the Junior Forum program for kids entering grades 6 to 8. A Youth Forum camp for boys and girls entering grades 4 and 5 is available at Cal State San Marcos. And Quantum U, a college boot camp for incoming college freshmen, will run at Colorado College.
