NASA scientists have gotten their first glance of Mars. The Phoenix Lander snapped the photos hours after its safe arrival on Mars yesterday.
The pictures show a region similar to Earth’s permafrost areas and show geometric patterns in the soil as far as the camera can see.
The Phoenix’s 90-day mission isn’t only to collect pictures. The lander will collect soil and permafrost to analyze for signs of past or present life.
