The death toll from China’s 7.9 magnitude earthquake topped more than 67,000 Tuesday as more than 20,000 people remained missing.

Those numbers have been rising as recovery efforts continue in the hardest hit areas of  Sichuan province.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, aftershocks as strong as 6.0 continue to rock the area. More than 450,000 have lost their homes to aftershocks following the May 12 earthquake.
