Principals Son Matthew McGrory Arrested for Robbing School

The son of the Ames High School principal has been arrested for attempting to rob the school. Matthew McGrory, 18, and five other seniors were caught by an overnight janitor attempting to steal tables from the high school.

Iowa Police were called around 11:40 p.m. on May 20 by the janitor who said a group of people were removing tables from the school.

McGrory, Zachary Burleson, Orlo Best, Jordan Bergman, and Adam Tyler have all been charges with second-degree burglary, which is a class C felony. The charges carry a maximum of 10 years in prison.

The teens attempted to run from police but were caught in a wooded area near the school. Authorities say the boys got into the school using keys that McGrory stole from his father, Principal Mike McGrory.

The teens were being held in jail on $10,000 bonds.
