Chris Paul to Stay With Hornets
NBA Star to Remain With First Team
There has been some uncertainty recently about whether or not 3-time NBA All-Star Chris Paul would be staying with the New Orleans Hornets. Last week, a source that supposedly had direct knowledge of Paul's situation said that Paul was continuing his efforts to leave the Hornets for a team that might give him a better shot at winning. According to the source, Paul wanted out. But things are looking a little different now. Earlier today, Paul met with New Orleans executives to discuss his future, and, according to a report from ESPN.com, Paul did not request to be traded. In a statement released by the Hornets, Paul said, "The meeting went well... I expressed my desire to win and I like what they said about the direction that they want to take the team. I have been a Hornet my entire career and I hope to represent the city of New Orleans and state of Louisiana for many years to come." There were some concerns that Paul would ask to be traded and, eventually, leave his first NBA team (the Hornets) like 2-time MVP LeBron James did recently (when he announced his decision to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers and join the Miami Heat), but those concerns seem to have been all but eliminated by Paul's recent statement, which seems to suggest rather clearly that Chris Paul intends to stay with the New Orleans Hornets.
