The Angels Pitch Their Way To The Top

With a league leading thirty-two runs, the Angels are just on pace for what we thought was an amazing season. We figured the hitting would be dominate, this has held true, even though Vlad has been in a season of slump and strike. The most surprising key to this season is just how amazing the pitching has picked up for these Angels of Anaheim.

The pitching is in fact, the reason the Angels have been so dominate over AL superpowers. Analyzing the starting lineup, it can easily make believers of anyone. John Lackey, their ace, even though injured, has given up only five runs in twenty-two innings of work. Once the ace is able to get one-hundred percent, the six man rotation could perhaps be an everyday affair. Now starting second, the interim ace Jared Weaver; although record does not state this, the hard thrower has provided great relief for the hitting to pull through.

The 4-5 record, will easily change as the months go on. Perhaps the most surprising of the bunch, is the bottom three of Jon Garland, Joe Saunders, and Ervin Satana. Although, at the bottom, this is indeed the heart of the pitching rotation and success for the Angels. Combined they compile a record of 20-6, and an ERA pushing barley 3.

The success of these young pitchers, complementing the not so dominance from the first couple mentioned. Has the team strides throughout the season, and Lackey, and Weavers play improves, it will be almost impossible to hit against this six all-star rotation. Perhaps at the beginning one of the best teams in the AL, continue to follow the trend, and are still on top of the World Series hopefuls.
