Forest Fires in Manitoba Force Evacuations

Forest fires in the Manitoba province of Canada have forced the evacuations of at least four northern communities and left two more on standby.

The fires, which are burning in five different areas, are under investigation but are believed to have been caused by humans.

By Wednesday night, province officials had eight water-bombers, 17 helicopters and 300 staff battling the blazes. More crews were expected to arrive today.

Dry northern conditions have allowed the fires to spread rapidly.
