The body of a U.S. sailor who had been missing since last Friday was discovered in the eastern Afghan province of Logar on Sunday.
According to reports the sailor has been identified as Justin McNeley, the 30-year-old nephew of Colorado state legislator Jim Kerr. McNeley, along with a second sailor, left a military base on Friday evening in a four-wheel drive vehicle and never reported back to the base.
The Taliban has claimed they shot and killed McNeley during a gun battle and took the second sailor captive. NATO has already warned the Taliban that they would be held responsible for the sailor’s safety and have demanded his release.
