A crane in New York collapsed Friday killing at least one person and damaging an apartment building in the Upper East Side. The crane fell more than 20 stories from the roof of a Manhattan building.
“I’m not directly on the scene, but I can confirm that we have lost a life of yet another building collapse in the borough of Manhattan, and it is an absolute tragedy,” said the borough president of Manhattan Scott Stringer.
New York mayor Michael Bloomberg says the accident is “just unacceptable and intolerable. This is the second construction crane to collapse in Manhattan this year.
