Croatia Convicts General of War Crimes Against Serbs

Former Croatian general Mirko Norac was sentenced to seven years in prison on Friday after a court found him guilty of war crimes against the minority Serbs in 1993.

Norac was said to have allowed his soldiers to torture and kill Serbs during an attack in southern Croatia in what was known as the “Medak pocket.”

The court found Norac responsible for 28 civilian deaths and the deaths of five prisoners. Norac is already serving a sentence of twelve years for war crimes he committed in the Gospic area in 1991.
